| A different mood |

Here's the last drabble I wrote for romancingwizard. The prompt was 'four-poster bed'. As usual I wanted to write a funny and ironic one but didn't get the hang of it. Therefore, it's a rather different mood now. Kindly beta-read by Beth Kennedy.
Snape was gazing at the canopy of the four-poster bed.
His fingers caressed the curtains. They were worn thin with age, but there was no use in having new ones.
The bedspread, enveloped in a cover that was as shabby as the sheets, rested on his chest like a heavy weight.
He coughed and felt saliva and blood trickling down his chin. His hand trembled when he wiped the mucous away.
He blinked as the pattern of the canopy began to swim before his eyes.
This was the bed he bad been born in. Now he would die in it.
EDIT: I was just informed that the drabble doesn't count as a challenge entry at romancingwizard. As the name of the community indicates, it was supposed to be a drabble with romantic elements, which I completely forgot. How embarrassing! Therefore I will torture you with one more drabble based on the same prompt after all. ;) |
