"Alan Rickman" were the first words when I got into my car tonight and started the engine. I tend to listen to BFBS while driving, and it's the first time ever I heard his name come up. I had missed the beginning and only got the impression that while host Lynne Duffus isn't a huge fan she rather likes him in Robin Hood. She also mentioned that she doesn't fancy him in Truly Madly Deeply. She didn't say why, but I can only imagine that it must be the moustache. Why else could anyone not fancy Jamie? ;)
Although I wasn't too thrilled with Alan Rickman's work in HP6, I felt inspired by the recent promo pics.

| Triumphant |
[Mar. 30th, 2008|03:56 pm] |
I've finally done it. After not having taken part for many months and only recently starting to enter the challenges again, I won first place at rickman_stills.
I submitted the following three icons.

I'm honestly at a loss why the first one won, because I like the other two so much more, but who am I to complain?

| Screensaver |
[Feb. 15th, 2008|11:58 pm] |
So far I only had come across a Sweeney Todd screensaver that included photos of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, but now I found one that also includes Alan Rickman. I uploaded it here.
Apart from that I've added a few icons. I've become really uninspired in the past months, but once in a while I still create one or two.

| A small selection of icons |
[Oct. 14th, 2006|09:50 pm] |
After a longish break I thought I could post a few icons, which I created in the past couple of months. Most of them are of Alan Rickman, but not all of them.

| I won third place! |
[Jul. 31st, 2006|10:02 pm] |
For the past few months I've been taking part in the weekly icon competitions at rickman_stills, hoping to be among the best three. So far I had no luck, but I was rewarded Mod's Choice four times.
Now, the community held a wallpaper competition, and guess what? I won third place! It was the first wallpaper I ever made and I won.
Behind the cut are the banners I received for the wallpaper and for the fourth icon that won Mod's Choice.

Having taken part in the contest for a while now, I have started to wonder what people expect from an icon. When is an icon beautiful? Should it be funny, conventionally or unconventionally cropped, frilly or simple? Does it need text? |

I created some icons of some musicians and actors. They are Bryan Ferry, Billy Joel, Colin Firth, Herbert Grönemeyer, Michael Caine and Robbie Williams.

I still take part in the weekly competitions at rickman_stills on a rather regular basis. Now I've been awarded Mod's Choice again. That's more than cool. Nevertheless I hope that one day I will make one of the first three places.
Here's the lovely banner I got this time round.

Reading and enjoying the many entries on Les Liaisons Dangereuses at catsplay's lj, inspired me to create some LLD icons.
Most of them are rather simple because the costumes Alan Rickman and the others wore were already very elaborate, and I didn't want to drown the actual picture with frilly details.

| Dance teacher or archaeologist? |
[Jun. 16th, 2006|12:28 am] |
A couple of days ago, the following film project was mentioned in amber_dragon_64’s Yahoo group Rickman Pics and Fics: a film called Brown Sugar about a dance teacher who becomes involved with an archaeologist.
http://www.hollywood.com/movies/detail/id/383266
The summary’s not much to go by, and I don’t have the slightest idea whether this news is old, new or reliable at all, but we discussed whether we’d prefer Alan Rickman in the role of the dance teacher or the archaeologist. Personally, I would rather see him as the dance teacher while most of the others seemed to disagree, claiming that an archaeologist would be the meatier role. I stuck to my opinion, though.
Here’s the visual explanation - five lj icons as a themed set, which I created for rickman_stills a couple of weeks ago.

Any more questions why I might prefer AR as a dance teacher over an archaeologist? |

| It's all about acting... |
[May. 25th, 2006|08:19 pm] |
Some days ago I came up with the idea to create a few icons in the form of a cartoon. I assume no one will be surprised to read that this turned out to be really difficult. Therefore, the following isn't a cartoon although the icons certainly belong together.

| I love getting banners |
[May. 14th, 2006|02:28 am] |
I really do. Only three weeks ago one of my icons for the weekly contest at rickman_stills won Mod's Choice. Now another one has been chosen.

I have to be careful now, else I might get conceited. |

For the past few weeks I've taken part in the weekly icon contest held by rickman_stills. Now I've won for the first time... Mod's Choice.
Here's the banner to prove it.
