| So good |
[May. 31st, 2009|09:54 am] |
Some months ago I saw the recorder player with some other musicians, but this is his regular "band" called Wildes Holz. I wish I could play like that. I know I'm pretty good for someome who plays the recorder as a hobby only, but I'd never be able to come close to what he does - even if I had the sheet music. |

I know that Glasvegas' album has been out in Great Britain for some time, but it will be released here in Germany on Friday, and I couldn't resist advertising it. |

| Is there anything more beautiful than music in the world? |
[Apr. 17th, 2007|11:48 pm] |
I watched Copying Beethoven at the cinema tonight. At imdb.com many people seem to be quite unhappy with the film for different reasons, but in my opinion, the film managed to visualise music and create breathtakingly emotional pictures for it.
Watching it and listening to Beethoven's opus, made me think once again how wonderful it would be to be a musician. I know how to play an instrument and I'm not bad at it, but in the end, I'm only a mechanic. |

| How do you breathe that? |
[Apr. 26th, 2006|10:43 pm] |
I've just come back from another rehearsal with the recorder group I belong to. We mostly play pieces from the Renaissance and Baroque age.
Not for the first time did I have the feeling that I should do something about my breathing technique. I don't think I'm the worst among the group members, but for my own satisfaction I'd like to do better.
It's not always equally bad, but all in all allegros and vivaces with many fast notes or largos and adagios with all their long and steady notes can be rather difficult to breathe. At least for me. I always have to think of Mariah Carey singing "Without you" and just hope that my breathing isn't as annoyingly loud and desperate as hers.
About two years ago, I tried to learn how to breathe properly, that is diaphragmatic respiration. An actor had told me that it would take about two or three months to learn. I practised it for more than three months but didn't get the hang of it and gave up.
But after tonight's rehearsal I decided I should give it another try. After all thousands of mediocre actors and musicians learnt it, so why shouldn't I be able to do it as well? |
